Benefits

Why choose quartz countertops

Quartz is an engineered surface made of about 90% ground natural quartz bound with resin and pigments. The result is a non-porous countertop with a consistent look that never needs sealing, which is why it has become the low-maintenance favorite for family kitchens and bathrooms.

No sealing, ever

Quartz is non-porous, so coffee, wine, oil and makeup wipe right off without staining.

Consistent look

What you see in the sample is what you get on your countertop, from pure white to marble-style veining.

Hygienic surface

With no pores for liquids to soak into, quartz is easy to keep clean in kitchens and bathrooms.

Marble look, less worry

Calacatta and Carrara-style quartz give you the look of marble without etching or yearly maintenance.

About the material

What to know about Quartz countertops

Quartz countertops are made of about 90% ground natural quartz bound with resin and pigments. The result is a hard, non-porous surface with a uniform pattern that is easy to live with.

It is the low-maintenance choice for kitchens and bathrooms, and the easiest way to get a white marble look without the upkeep of real marble.

No sealing, ever

Quartz is non-porous, so coffee, wine and oil wipe right off.

Consistent look

What you see in the sample is what you get on the countertop.

Use a trivet

The resin in quartz does not like very hot pans placed directly on it.

Indoor surface

Direct sun can fade quartz, so we recommend granite for outdoor kitchens.

Pricing

What affects the cost of quartz countertops

Quartz is priced by brand, collection and design, and we quote every project individually. These are the main factors that move the number:

Brand and design

Solid whites and simple patterns usually cost less than bold, realistic marble looks and premium collections.

Square footage and layout

The total area, the number of pieces and where the seams fall drive how much stone your project needs.

Thickness

Most countertops use 3 cm (about 1 1/4") slabs; 2 cm is common for vanities and wall applications.

Edge profile

A simple eased edge is included in most quotes; mitered, ogee or waterfall edges add fabrication time.

Cutouts

Undermount sinks, cooktops, faucet holes and outlets each require precise cutting and polishing.

Removal and access

Tearing out old tops, stairs or tight spaces can add labor to the installation day.

Care & maintenance

How to care for quartz countertops

Quartz is the easiest countertop to maintain. Clean it with warm water and mild dish soap or a non-abrasive surface cleaner, and that is it: no sealing required.

Use trivets for hot pans, because the resin in quartz can discolor with direct, high heat. Avoid harsh chemicals like oven cleaner or bleach. Quartz is designed for indoor use: direct sunlight can fade it over time, so we recommend granite or porcelain for outdoor kitchens.

FAQ

Quartz countertops: frequently asked questions

Does quartz need to be sealed?

No. Quartz is non-porous and never needs sealing. Regular cleaning with soap and water is all it needs.

Can I put hot pans on quartz?

We do not recommend it. The resin in quartz can discolor or crack with direct high heat, so always use a trivet or hot pad.

Is quartz better than granite?

Neither is better for everyone. Quartz wins on low maintenance and consistency; granite wins on heat resistance and natural variety. We help you compare both in person.

Can quartz be used outdoors?

It is not recommended. UV light can fade quartz over time, so we suggest granite for outdoor kitchens.

Does quartz look like marble?

Many quartz designs closely imitate Calacatta and Carrara marble, giving you the look without the etching and upkeep of real marble.
